Our Journey Map & Schedule
Get ready for an unforgettable day! Below is the detailed schedule of our adventure from Tbilisi to the heart of the Caucasus Mountains. We have carefully planned each stop to ensure you experience the best of Georgia's history, culture, and breathtaking natural beauty at a relaxed and comfortable pace.
Our adventure begins at 09:00 AM (or your preferred time). Your professional driver will meet you directly at your hotel lobby or apartment in Tbilisi. We recommend an early start to enjoy the soft morning light on the mountains and beat the crowds at the main sights. The journey to our first stop takes about 1.5 hours, during which you can relax in our air-conditioned vehicle and enjoy the changing landscapes.
Important Note: The road to Kazbegi is a high-mountain pass. Due to weather conditions or occasional traffic management, the road can sometimes be restricted to one-way traffic, which may lead to delays of 1-2 hours. While our experienced drivers always choose the best timing, we recommend not booking tight evening plans (like flights or theater) on the day of this tour. We appreciate your patience as we prioritize your safety and the best mountain experience.
Our first stop is the stunning 17th-century Ananuri castle complex. This fortress was the seat of the Dukes of Aragvi and has witnessed many historic battles. You will explore its ancient stone towers and beautifully carved churches. Right below the fortress lies the Zhinvali Reservoir, famous for its incredible turquoise waters—the perfect backdrop for your first breathtaking photos.
As we ascend higher, we reach the famous "Russia-Georgia Friendship Monument" near the Jvari Pass. Perched on a cliff at 2384 meters, this colorful mosaic monument overlooks the "Devil's Valley." You will enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of the snowy peaks and deep gorges. In spring and summer, the valleys are lush green; in winter, they turn into a white wonderland. It's an ideal spot to feel the true scale of the Caucasus.
At this time, we stop in Stepantsminda for a well-deserved lunch break where you can enjoy authentic mountain cuisine, including the famous hand-rolled Khinkali. We can recommend several local options, from cozy family-run restaurants to terraces with stunning views of Mount Kazbek.
Please keep in mind that lunch in the mountains is a relaxed experience, and during the high tourist season, service at local restaurants may take longer than usual. We suggest allocating a flexible amount of time for your meal so you can fully savor the local flavors and the mountain atmosphere without any rush.
This is the moment you’ve been waiting for. We reach Stepantsminda and head up to the Gergeti Trinity Church, built in the 14th century. Isolated on top of a steep mountain and surrounded by the vastness of nature, it is arguably the most iconic sight in Georgia. From here, if the weather is clear, you will see the majestic peak of Mount Kazbek (5047m) towering above the clouds. The atmosphere here is quiet, mystical, and deeply moving.
After soaking in the mountain air and capturing enough memories for a lifetime, we begin our scenic drive back to the capital. We will drop you off directly at your hotel, leaving you with a heart full of Georgian hospitality and mountain magic.
